Frances Mayes has done for Tuscany what Peter Mayles did for Provence with his own bestselling tale of buying a home in rural Europe. Reading these books at least allows many of us to live vicariously the enviable life of renovating a run down country home between sips of homegrown wine and mouthfulls of summer soaked local dishes.
This one stands out for its fine selection of authentic Tuscan recipes to accompany the trials and tribulations (sigh) the author encountered getting her hands dirty during long summer sojourns in Italy. A few tasty Tuscan dishes round out the offering.
