Everyday Italian

125 Simple & Delicious Recipes

by Giada De Laurentiis

Style and simplicity go hand in hand in Giada De Laurentiis’ first book, Everyday Italian. Based on her popular Food Network show of the same name, Everyday Italian brings home some very basic, tried and true Italian-American dishes that are uncomplicated to prepare, yet surprisingly fresh and boldly flavored.

There are 125 recipes neatly organized with basic ideas for Antipasti, Sauces, Pastas, Risotto, Polenta, Entrees, Contorni and Dolci, and most recipes call for only a handful of ingredients—all readily available and recognizable. She even offers us guilt-free opportunities to use time-saving ingredients such as frozen bread stick dough and frozen spinach. Some of our favorite dishes include Roasted Pork Loin with Fig Sauce; Beef and Cheese Manicotti; Turkey Meatballs in Tomato Sauce; Ziti with Asparagus, Smoked Mozzarella, and Prosciutto and Chocolate Zabaglione.

Her techniques and ideas are practical with minimal fuss, enabling home cooks of even limited skill to get a great meal on the table in less than 30 minutes. Staying true to her Italian cooking heritage, hers is not a new approach, nor is her repertoire highly original, however, Giada manages to make the cooking feel new and has some welcoming, fresh ideas for great meals one could easily enjoy everyday.
